What Is The BOHS Register of Occupational Hygiene Professionals?
The British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) is a professional body that provides information, expertise and guidance in the recognition, control, and management of workplace health risks.
The launch of the new BOHS Register of Occupational Hygiene Professionals acts as a hallmark of excellence in the field of occupational hygiene. Developed as a tool for identifying individuals who demonstrate a high level of competence and commitment to protecting worker health.
The register is administered by the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene, the professional standards body for the British Occupational Hygiene Profession, is regulated under statute by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, and aims to provide a database for businesses employing someone to provide in-house occupational hygiene advice or looking to employ the Occupational Hygiene Services of a company such as ECL, giving them the ability to check that the person giving you advice is competent to do so.
It enables an individual or company to check an Occupational Hygienists level of expertise and to see whether they have been independently verified as meeting the requirements outlined in Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
If a person is not on the register, even if they are registered with another professional body, then there has not been an independent check of their experience, training, and other attributes.
